Come Teach with Us!
We are currently hiring teachers for our after school classes, no school workshops, and looking forward, summer camps! We only ask you be as passionate about equity in access to art education as you are about your own work!
Vibe is seeking Teaching Artists for their after school and no school workshops, and the 2023 season of Summer Camps, beginning JUNE 17TH and ending AUGUST 30TH. We are especially seeking instructors who are comfortable teaching illustration, drawing, and digital arts.
After school classes are held onsite at schools located in SE, NE, and N Portland, encompassing Portland Public Schools as well as Parkrose and David Douglas. Classes can run for 1-1.5 hours from 3pm-5:30 depending on after school schedules. No school workshops occur on holidays, in-service days, and school breaks (Thanksgiving week, winter holidays, spring) and are usually 9am-4pm. Summer camps run 9am-3pm and from Monday - Friday. For summer camps we have 2 SE Portland sites, and one NE Portland site.

We only ask that you are as passionate about changing the life of a young person through art as much as you are passionate about the power of art.*
*For summer camps: Must be available 5 days/week, during the time of 9am-3pm.*
Qualifications:
*Experience teaching youth from varying demographic backgrounds ages 5-14.
*Promote PROCESS-based arts education in lesson plans and curriculum.
*Reliable transportation.
*Be reliable and prompt with communication via Slack, email, and/or text.
*Willingness to work collaboratively with other Teaching Artists with creating class content and lesson plans.
*Strongly prefer a college degree in Fine Arts or equivalent.
Pay is $40/hour which does incorporate prep time. We do offer additional prep time at separate pay for class content development when needed. We will be hiring for our school year programming (Fall-Spring) from our summer crew of teaching artists, so there is likely potential work after summer is over.
We offer at no cost Trauma-Informed Best Practices training.
